Shades of grey

Finally getting closer to 40. How’s life—has it all sorted itself out and worked out in your favor?

Had you asked me this question a decade earlier, I’d have nodded with a resounding yes.

Ten years later, life is anything but sorted. And that’s the beauty of it. Things I had always seen as either black or white have all turned grey. There’s nothing absolutely right or wrong on this planet Earth. What is “right” today might be “wrong” in another 100 years or may have been wrong 50 years ago.

We all come to this planet Earth and try to draw our lives in a straight line. But life has its own plans. In Buddhism, they say the only thing constant in life is impermanence. In Hinduism, we’re taught not to desire the fruits of our hard work. Now it makes better sense why; because life turns out very differently from what you thought.

Learning, consciously, to live only in the present. And accept everything that life throws my way with open arms.
